Invasive Plant Control Workday – Tunica Hills
June 17 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Please mark your calendars for the following Saturdays:
May 20th, June 17th, and July 15th
for Year 3 of the Louisiana Master Naturalists of Greater Baton Rouge’s Invasive Plant Control Workdays in Ravine A of the South Tract of the Tunica Hills WMA! We focus on Christmas berry, Ardisia crenata, but also remove privet, tallow and trifoliate orange as we come across it.
There is a job for everyone in controlling ardisia!
Pickers – collect the berries from the plants
Pullers – using a shovel uproot the plant, shake the soil off and pile the uprooted plants
Scouts – walk within the ravine and locate clusters of ardisia
Rangers – walk the area beyond the ravine and remove isolated plants
Details for each workday will be sent as we get closer to each workday.
Please note that there are no daytime hunting seasons during these selected months. Also, August 19th and September 16th will be our rain-out days.
