Briarwood Nature Preserve Jr Curator Day

August 19, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Junior Curator Day is the perfect event for young minds who are passionate about history, forestry, wildlife, and horticulture! Students will have the opportunity to explore the Briarwood Nature Preserve (216 Caroline Dorman Rd, Saline LA 71070) guided by experts in the fields of herpetology, history, botany, and much more, who will share their knowledge and insights. The student will learn to identify the mammals, reptiles, amphibians, flowers, tree, and even mushrooms of Briarwood by the end of the day. They will have a greater understanding of native flora and fauna.
Joining us on this day will be the United States Forestry Service, Louisiana Master Naturalists, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Louisiana Snake ID, and Louisiana Herps.
The ticket for Junior Curator Day is $40 per student. This purchase includes a t-shirt, small breakfast, lunch, snacks, and Junior Curator Materials (notepad, official pin, goodie bag). This is event is open to 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders only.
Students will need to bring bug spray and sunscreen (if they use them) and appropriate shoes and clothes for the outdoors. We will be outside for majority of the day. We will be hiking around the preserve and stopping at different stations. Students will have hands on experience with reptiles and amphibians if they choose. Please contact Curator Bayli Brossette for any questions, comments, or concerns, before or after purchase. 318-576-3379, or by cell, 318-583-2452.
