Monarchs, Migration, Milkweed and Oe – Hilltop Arboretum

May 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Tuesday, May 28, 6:30-8 pm

Linda Barber Auld, affectionately known as the NOLA BugLady, joins us to discuss monarch butterflies and the ecosystem of insects that visit milkweed plants. Linda will trace the history of the University of Kansas Monarch Watch Tagging Program and share the results of three fascinating university research studies on monarchs. Participants will learn how to tell the difference between native and non-native milkweed and learn more about the Oe parasite infection. Linda will share how the discovery affects our region and provide updated recommendations on how to address the infection.
